Scientific papers are recommended for oral sessions,
poster sessions or symposia. There are two types of papers accepted for
review: 1) full length manuscripts of up to 4 pages, including a 10 line
abstract. 2) "Work in progress" which are to be submitted as a one page
abstracts. Please submit the paper to the ISBS 2003 Secretariat. The deadline
of paper submission is April 15, 2003. Detailed guidelines for the preparation
of paper are as follows. All abstracts are subject to review by the Scientific
Committee.
Instruction for Full Paper
An abstract is incorporated in the four-page paper
to be printed in the scientific proceedings. There is no requirement to
submit an abstract separately. Scientific papers are required for ORAL
AND POSTER presentations.
The paper must be written in English. The paper should
be four A4 pages in length, single spaced, in Ariel size 11 font with normal
character spacing. Set your page to A4 portrait (30cm high by 21cm
wide). The printing area should be 25cm by 16cm. Set the left and
right margins at 2.5cm and the top and bottom margins at 2.5cm. The printing
(other than formulas and tables) should be right and left justified.
Do NOT indent the first line of paragraphs or sections.
Use one or two lines to write the TITLE in BOLD CAPITAL
LETTERS. Skip one line and type the author(s) first name and surname in
bold lower case. On the next line give the author(s) affiliation(s),
city, state, and country in bold lower case. The title, authors and
affiliations should be centered. Skip another line.
Right and left justify all the following text (except
formulas and tables). Write an abstract of no more than 10 lines indented
1cm from both the right and left margins in Ariel size 10 font. Do NOT
use a heading for the abstract and write the abstract as an unbroken single
paragraph. Skip one line and list up to six keywords (unbolded) describing
your paper alongside the sub-heading KEYWORDS: in BOLD CAPITAL LETTERS.
Skip another line and return to full width and Ariel
size 11 font. Your paper should have the following structure: An INTRODUCTION
indicating the significance and purpose of the research and citing the
primary literature sources. A description of the METHODS of data
collection, data analysis, and research design. A RESULTS AND DISCUSSION.
These sections may be combined if desired in the interests of saving space.
A CONCLUSION should include reference to implications and applications
of the work. Because a major goal of the ISBS is to bridge the gap between
sports biomechanics and practitioners in teaching, coaching, training,
and rehabilitation of participants in sports. Your conclusion should highlight
the benefits of the study for practitioners. If your study is an advancement
of methods of analysis or the development of new equipment then it should
be indicated clearly how this could lead to assisting practitioners. An
alphabetical list of REFERENCES should conform to the guidelines of the Journal of Applied
Biomechanics (J.A.B.). Skip a line after each of the above major sections.
Each of the major headings listed above should be left justified (NOT indented
or centered), in BOLD CAPITALS, and followed by a colon. The text
then continues on the same line. Lower level headings should follow
the same format and should be in lower case (NOT capitals). Do NOT
skip lines between paragraphs or before lower level headings. Formulas,
figures, and tables should be formatted in the style adopted by the Journal
of Applied Biomechanics (J.A.B.). See the example below.
Instruction for Work in
Progress
The format and styleo
of Work in Progress are as same as the full length manuscripts. However,
10 line abstract is not required and the length of paper should be up to
one page.

Review Process
Each paper will be reviewed by at least two members
of the scientific committee. Reviewers will be assessing its suitability
for publication in the proceedings. The scientific committee comprises
the current members of the board of directors of the ISBS and the keynote
speakers for ISBS2003. On the basis of the review your paper will be categorised
as one of the following:
Reject: Not suitable for publication
in the Proceedings.
Reject and resubmit: The paper is rejected
unless the authors can make satisfactory responses to the reviewers' concerns.
The paper will then be accepted only if all the concerns are addressed
to the satisfaction of the reviewers.
Accept with minor changes: The authors
must respond to the reviewers' concerns to the satisfaction of the editor
of the proceedings.
Accept: The paper is accepted with only
minor editing required at the discretion of the editor of the proceedings.
Submission of Papers
To be considered for inclusion in the ISBS Proceedings
authors are required to submit a US$40.00 deposit either by
credit card (preferable) or posted cheque. The deposit will be returned
in full after the paper or poster is presented at the conference or at
the time of final rejection of the paper.
Please complete the enclosed paper submission form
and fax with payment of deposit to the address given on the form. Keep
your own copy of the paper submission form and evidence of payment.
To expedite the review process your paper should
be submitted as an e-mail attachment in rich text format (.rtf) to:
isbs2003@cssb2001.net.
Figures should be incorporated into the document. Try to keep figures simple.
Do not send figures in EPS format. If you have figures requiring large
blocks of memory (larger than 1.4 MB) please send the document ZIPPED.
